Gallery at Marina Square Presents Our Featured Artist Exhibit for February 2013: “Pixels to Piecing: Two Views”

A Featured Artist Reception will be held Friday, February 8th from 5-8pm at Gallery at Marina Square

Jack McNeal
Jack McNeal takes his photos while hiking and kayaking. From his kayak, Jack is able to photograph areas along the Central Coast that are some what illusive to to much of the general public in it’s unusual beauty, such as “Disney Point.” Jack’s local scenes and luminous sunsets are soft, yet rich in color, with a style that emanates elegance.

Jack has had a camera in his hand since his mid forties. He was a gold medalist at the Underwater Film Festival in Santa Monica both for Black and White Prints and Color Slides in 1959 and 1960 as well as the LA County Fair for Black and White prints.

More recently he has been in Juried Shows at San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay.

His current work involves extensive exploration of place and mood with digital cameras, including local shorelines as well as travel to Utah, Alaska and Okinawa.

Gay McNeal
Gay McNeal’s love of textiles and the fiber arts started when her mother taught her to sew when she was ten years old.

Gay received a BA in Art with an emphasis in Interior and Textile Design from C.S.U. Long Beach. She continues to take classes in order to explore and experiment with all aspects of the fiber arts.

Gay possesses an appreciation of the multifaceted role that fiber has played in the art and material cultures of many ethnic societies, and her creative high comes from the actual process of trying out the multitude of techniques, both old and new available to textile artists today.

Deb Festa—Guest Artist

Gallery at Marina Square Presents Our Guest Artist Exhibit for February 2013: “Hearts & Color Delight”

A Guest Artist Reception will be held Friday, February 8th from 5-8pm at Gallery at Marina Square

Deb Festa

Deb Festa paints with passion and joy in her heart. She is known as the “Happy Painter” because of her vibrant color combinations and her spirit of life. She finds excitement in capturing nature’s light, color and ever-changing moods in her refreshing acrylic paintings. Deb likes to pile the acrylics on thick, which is very different from her watercolors. She also uses five coats of urethane to finish off the painting. Painting large is what she likes with her acrylic painting and not to use frames.

Deb is a self taught artist who gets so immersed in her painting that it becomes a form of meditation. She believes her hands are being guided by a divine power and is blessed for the gift that she has been given.

Deb starts first by taking photos with her camera to stop the magical moment before the clouds or reflections move. She works in her studio from her photos and memories to create her paintings.

Deb Festa has become well known throughout the Central Coast with local and international art lovers who have purchased her work. Her artwork is in 43 states and 20 countries. She loves to track where her paintings travel to. She has had over 50 solo exhibitions, many group shows, and a television appearance.

Deb Festa’s exhibition “ Hearts & Color Delight” can be viewed at Gallery at Marina Square throughout the month of February, from the 1st through the 27th.
