Gallery at Marina Square presents our Featured Artist for September 2015

Gallery at Marina Square presents Our Featured Artist Exhibit for September 2015: Mari O'Brien & her show "Dreams of Africa”

A Featured Artist Reception will be held Friday, September 11th, from 5-8pm at Gallery at Marina Square

"I view my art as a means to explore, discover, experiment, and learn – in other words, as a maker of art, I am an adventurer."

"My adventures are, if you will, treks into my subconscious – a subconscious informed by previous encounters with people, music, dance, literature, and art--and by my own research into--a variety of human cultures.  (I am, after all, an erstwhile academic!)   I find that my creative impulses lately have arisen unbidden from this treasure trove of my past experiences, which then combine with my very active imagination and emerge into paintings.  Ironically, in spite of the very personal genesis of my paintings, the emotions I strive to express are universal."

"A successful painting, for me, is one that is balanced visually, with which the viewer can experience an emotional or spiritual connection."

"I am an active board member of the Central Coast Watercolor Society, and a signature member of both the International Society of Acrylic Painters and the Utah Watercolor Society."

Mari O'Brien's exhibition "Dreams of Africa" can be viewed at Gallery at Marina Square throughout the month of September, from August 30th through September 29th.

Gallery at Marina Square Presents Our Guest Artist Exhibit for September 2015

Gallery at Marina Square Presents Our Guest Artist Exhibit for September 2015: “Jack & Gay McNeal presents Pixels to Piecing, 2 Views II”

A Guest Artist Reception will be held Friday, September 11th, from 5-8pm at Gallery at Marina Square

Jack & Gay McNeal and their Show

Gay McNeal's love of textiles and the fiber arts started when her mother taught her to sew when she was ten years old.  Gay received a BA in Art with an emphasis in Interior Design from CSU Long Beach.  She continues to take classes in order to explore and experiment with all aspects of the fiber arts.

Jack McNeal’s passion has been to thoroughly explore the places he loves.  “I have always been a wanderer.  As a child I would explore the hills around our home in Highland Park, CA.  Later, after we moved to Long Beach, CA, I would explore the salt flats and dunes of dredging spoil near the San Gabriel River and Alamitos Bay.  A few years later I had a small boat and spent days on Alamitos Bay.  My explorations continue to the present with a clear bias toward the sea.  I attempt to capture my love of water while hiking, cycling and paddling canoes and kayaks in my photography."

Jack & Gay McNeal’s Pixels to Piecing, 2 views II exhibition can be viewed at Gallery at Marina Square throughout the month of September, from August 30th through September 29th.
